My brother and I made our first visit to Merkel's Camp about 17 years ago. We based our decision on which camp to go to using brochures sent to us by the Dryden Chamber of Commerce. This was going to be our first fishing trip to Canada and we had no idea what to expect of the lodging or the fishing on Lake Wabigoon.

That was 17 years ago and we have not gone anywhere else nor have we even entertained the idea of trying another place. That's how good it is! I could tell about all the large fish we've caught (and we've caught alot! - got pictures to prove it) and I could tell about the bear hunting (which is great) and I could tell about the scenery (which is beautiful) but the thing that comes to my mind first is the owners of the camp and their hospitality. For me, Merkel's camp is as good as it gets. It's a great time with good friends and something fun for the whole family.

Merkel's Camp
We have had some of the best times of our lives shared with family and friends at Merkel's Camp. We have been vacationing at Merkel's for the past eleven years. The fishing is always good and Terry and Merrill are very friendly to all guests. It is a very family oriented camp. I would suggest this type of a vacation to all our friends.

Dear Terry, Merrill and Children 
2004 was another great summer holiday at Merkel's Camp for Diane and myself. We are looking forward to seeing you again next month for another great vacation. By my count this will be the 18h summer we've been priviledged to be guests at Merkel's.

Great accommodations, Great fishing, Miles of accessible water in a family orientated enviroment. Our favorite Canadian adventure. Keep up the good work!

We didn't have a chance to personally thank both of you for your hospitality. Our first fishing trip to Canada was truly a memorable one, due in a large part to your caring treatment of your guests.

We certainly appreciated you and your family taking time on our first day to give us a guided boat tour of the area. Also showing us where and how to fish was a big help. Having the boat ready to go every morning allowed us to make the most of every day. Our only disappointment was that you didn't have better control of the weather. (HA)

With the treatment we recieved, it's easy to see why you folks have so much return business. If all things work out I'm sure you'll probably see us back sometime in the future.
